I am not sure how I got so lucky, but this week I was able to celebrate my 2nd birthday in a row in China. If you had told me last year that I would spend another birthday in China I would have laughed wildly, but it really turned out to be one of the best birthdays I have ever had!
The October racers know how to throw a party and they went all out for my 30th! It was complete with costumes, toilet paper streamers, food and dancing! There is no way to really put into words the craziness that ensues when 50 people take over a “western restaurant” in China, so the pictures will have to tell the story.
Team Hebzibah fashioned a costume for me out of random items they found on the streets of Beijing. Complete with hat and fan.
Each of the eight teams on the squad made a special “presentation” to me throughout the night. Raps, songs, poems, special dances and the ever-famous “list” kept everyone laughing. The “list” is the running squad joke of items that may be “inappropriate” that happen throughout the month. One very special teammate keeps the list for me and always reports back what she sees. 🙂
No birthday outfit is complete without the ridiculous party hat and “30, Flirty, and Thriving” post-it. The rest can only be experienced on video. Wish you were all there to celebrate with us!! Thank you for all the phone calls, emails, facebook messages, cards, and love. It was absolutely wonderful!
