Hello!

My name is Allison. I am 22 years old and I’ve officially been accepted to go on the World Race and will be launching this September!! I will be going on the first All-Asian route and I am so excited and humbled for this experience! I have a huge heart for human trafficking, especially in Asian countries, so I don’t think it is a coincidence that the first year I am eligible for the Race is also the first year the All-Asian route is available. I have always known that I would not be in the United States after graduation. I didn’t know where I would be or what I would be doing, I just had a feeling. I’ve never been out of the country but have always had the desire to go as the Lord commands:

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” –Matthew 28:19-20

And so in September, I will go. I’ll be going to…

       India

     Nepal

              Thailand

     Laos

      Cambodia

         Vietnam

         Malaysia

                      Japan

China

           Mongolia

          Philippines

Here’s just a bit about who I am…

  1. I love Gamecock football and the four years I have spent at the University of South Carolina…Forever to Thee.
  2. Ice cream is my favorite food group while coffee comes in at a close second.
  3. I’m very clumsy and I can somehow find a way to trip over almost anything…or nothing.
  4. Despite what many of my friends may think I do own a watch I am just always late.
  5. I’m a Young Life leader in Columbia, SC and love sharing Jesus with my high school friends.
  6. I love going on adventures and pushing myself to try new things.
  7. I really don’t like odd numbers.
  8. I really do love people.
  9. Giving gifts is one of my most favorite things.
  10. I am unusually good at remembering and reciting random movie quotes in conversation.
  11. I’m a member of the Beta Delta chapter of Delta Zeta.
  12. In the last two years of college I’ve lived with 10 of my closest friends in a home that is lovingly referred to as ‘The Mansion’.
  13. My family is so fun and I love them dearly. I am the youngest of four. I have three older brothers, and two incredible parents.
  14. I have 5 nieces and nephews (ages 10-16) but I like to think of them as my younger siblings.
  15. Babies are the sweetest and I love them all.
  16. My car is a place I love to sit, pray, reflect and think, so I can often be found sitting in the Tor (Ford Taurus) long after I arrive at my destination.
  17. I really love to cook and bake because sharing food with friends is some of the best fellowship.
  18. Laughing is something I like to do on a regular basis.
  19. Productive procrastination is somewhat of an art that I have mastered.
  20. I have never been out of the United States…which will all change September 2014.

I love to write and journal so I’d like to keep you up to date on my journey in the next year and the months leading up to it. I can’t wait for you to come alongside me in this! I hope the Lord will use this to encourage and challenge you through sharing what He is doing in the world. As I prepare for this journey I ask that you’ll be praying. Praying that the Lord will use me and that I’ll go where the Spirit leads, praying that He be glorified first and foremost through this year, and praying for the countries we are going into and the people we will be meeting, loving and serving.
