Typically, World Race teams travel to multiple continents including Africa, Europe, Australia, and South America.  So how did I end up on a route confined within the borders of Asia?  To be honest, I had never wanted anything to do with Asia before. I don’t really know why, I knew little to nothing about Asian cultures, but I had just always said that Asia wasn’t a place where I’d want to go if I ever traveled.  God is funny.

In college, Asia kind of crept up in my heart.  Random books, classes, and missions trips friends went on slowly opened my eyes to Asia.  Knowing that most World Race routes eventually make their way to a couple of countries in Asia, I was excited to experience a little bit of Asian culture.  The day the September 2014 routes came out, I was so excited! Two routes immediately stood out when I initially read through them, one of those being all-Asia.  I don’t know why, but I just knew that that’s where I needed to go.  But still, wouldn’t traveling to parts of Europe and Africa be a great experience?  Who would be able to say that they’ve spent time in 3 different continents?  I messaged my best friend and told her to take a look at the two routes I was considering, and told her why I was considering them.

Simply put, she told me that it wasn’t about me and that I wasn’t going on the race for the travel experience, but to serve God where He wants me.

How right.  So I prayed and God confirmed that that is where He wants me and knew that Asia is where I needed to go.  So here I am, excited to serve for 11 months in Asia and ready for God to reveal His purpose for me there.

So: India, Nepal, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan, China, Mongolia, Philippines…I’m excited, nervous, and very anxious to meet you!

Thank you God for the opportunity to serve in these countries!
