I was told to not have any expectations about the training camp, the actual world race, the people I will meet, the feelings I would have… whelp, I had expectations… boy, was I wrong.

At training camp, the first night, we were asked to surrender our expectations…

We joined with 5 others from our squad, given a torch and were guided through the darkness to leaders waiting to ask us key questions concerning surrendering our expectations of comfort, control, and adventure.  At each “station” if we responded with a “yes’ to surrender… we each put our thumb print on an individual canvas…

this was the end result:

After reviewing my original expectations before camp, these are my new ones:

My Expectations for this trip:  I expect God to rock my world.  I expect to return very much changed.  I expect to be challenged by God, and my fellow racers.  I expect to mourn for those who can’t mourn… I expect to have hope for the those who don’t have any.  I expect God to show up… in BIG ways.
