Hello everyone!
Would you believe this is my very first blog post ever?? Well it is, so go easy on me! In this (rather long) post I wanted to outline for you how and why I felt not only called to go on the Race but why I chose to say ‘yes’!
Many of you have probably looked at what the World Race is (if you didn’t already know) and are now thinking either ‘wow that’s really cool!’ or ‘wow, she is crazy to put her life on hold for 11 months’. So to start, yes it is really cool! I am beyond excited that God chose to call me for this amazing opportunity, but also I am a little nervous. I realize the Race is 11 months away but taking the first step in the direction that God is calling you toward is scary, and also satisfying! This first step is acceptance of His call and by no means is that an easy feat. You can say ‘yes’ all you want but if you haven’t truly accepted what He is calling you toward (and away from) nothing is going to happen.
The problem with Gods plans is that they usually conflict with your own, they usually take you far away from your comfort zone. That is what He is doing for me and in no way am I complaining! Whenever I start to think that this is crazy I look back to Mark 1:17-18 where Jesus is calling Simon and Andrew “Then Jesus said to them ‘follow me and I will make you fishers of men.’ they immediately dropped their nets and followed Him.” See God doesn’t call when it is convenient for you or when it fits in just right with YOUR schedule, he calls you in His time and you can choose to accept (there’s that word again) and follow like Simon and Andrew or you can blow him off like so many people do and miss out on something bigger than you could ever hope for yourself.
During the World Race I aim to be pushed so far outside of my comfort zone that I have no choice but to rely on my amazing Father, who would never lead me somewhere HE couldn’t handle. I am excited to see how he uses myself and my fellow Racers on this amazing adventure with our boundless Creator as he takes us exactly where we need to be to change peoples lives! and I cant wait to share that with all of you!
