The countdown has begun….. TWO WEEKS from right now and I’ll be in Atlanta for our final days of training before we embark on the World Race!!!
It’s hard to believe how fast this has come! It hasn’t fully hit me yet that I’ll be in China soon…
Last Friday was my last day at work; it’s hard to say goodbye to the friends I’ve made, but I am super excited for the journey ahead.
It’s been crazy trying to prepare for the World Race. I want to make sure I have all the right gear, and I don’t forget anything important on the packing list. In the midst of the business and preparation, it’s hard to keep my focus in the right place and remember why I’m taking this trip.
God has been reminding me to focus on HIM first and let everything else fall into place. He’s the real reason why I’m giving up a year of my life to travel overseas – to tell others about Him. And He’s going to help me with all the last minute details if I’ll only stop trying in my own strength and ask Him for help.
A huge praise is that I’ve met my deadline for August – over $10,000 in my account! I am so blessed by everyone who has supported me so far, through prayer or giving. Thank you soooo much!!
As I’ve been getting ready for this trip, it’s come to my mind that what I’m doing is not normal. Most people don’t raise money to travel to the poorest countries of the world and share God’s love. Most people don’t want to give up their time, comfort, money, friends, and family to do this. Most people are comfortable where they are.
What I’m doing is not easy. I don’t like asking people for money; I’m not looking forward to saying goodbye to my family, friends, and community; I don’t really want to give up the comfort of home. But I’m doing it because I know it’s worth it. God has called me to do mission work, and His light needs to be shared in the darkest places of our world.
AND I’M SUPER EXCITED!!!!! Only 17 more days until China!!!
