Hey guys,
So I wasdriving in the car the other day feeling a little defeated about my walk after training camp and the complacency, that I’m sure most of you can relate with, that comes when you get back into the same ole same ole. God reminded me of the phrase “Wage War” which he showed me earlier and encouraged me with. For some reason during the last month or so I have been sitting and waiting on God to act in my life. now I know it says wait on the Lord, but it means wait as in serve like a waiter at a restaurant.
The result of this complacency is that as Christians we go on the defense to the attacks of the evil one (he doesn’t deserve capitalization). Defense may work for a little while, but eventually you WILL get scored on and be defeated. It makes more sense if you put it in the arena of sports examples. Let’s say football. Statistically the defense gets scored on a lot more than the offense, just as the offense scores a lot more than the defense. It’s simply because of the mindset. A defensive mindset isn’t primarily concerned with scoring but with keeping others from scoring as the offense only cares about scoring. In the Christian life what good is stopping evil if nothing is put in its place that is holy after the victory? Evil is the natural tendency of man and it will return. There is a reason why in Matthew 16:18 God promises those standing on the rock of faith that Peter was on that the gates of Hell will not prevail against his kingdom. Gates don’t attack, they defend and God says that our Kingdom should go on the offense becasue the gates won’t prevail agianst Kingdom offense. And I’m not talking about Hail Mary’s, this is hard yard by yard work and we got the Armor of God for pads! (ok I’ll stop with the football metaphors)
For real though, let’s stop watching the game and get in it with our offense. It’s time to start taking God’s promises like they were actualy true and put them to the test. I know you won’t regret. especially When your in that great ice bath in the sky meeting the hall of fame players. Was that too corny?
