I never
really considered myself a religious person.
In fact I didn’t like it when people would say “you’re a pretty
religious person right?”  It has such
negative connotations and I guess I didn’t want any part of it.  I am finding more and more on the race the difference
between what it means to be a religious person and what it means to be a
servant of Christ.

                Ever
since I was about 15 or so I knew there was something else out there bigger
than myself.  I have had my ups and downs
but I could never stop searching for what my heart knew was out there.  According to the word each person is given a measure
of faith and I think it is that faith that kept me on a path to seeking out God.  The thought of organized religion to me is
like putting an infinite God in a nice little box.  This nice little box is “mans” limited
thinking.  I am finding more and more
that God is so much bigger than my ability to understand.  The more I try to get a grasp of Him the more
I am left almost discouraged at my small thoughts.

                I sit
back and wonder how many people really understand the importance of a
Savior.  In our society we blow it off
because it is seen as religion.  But if
we separate the thought of being religious to loving our creator would people
be more inclined to seek out what that means?
If people weren’t hurt by the box man has created to put everyone in,
would people have more of a passion to pursue the Living God?  If we weren’t so caught up in satisfying our
desires would we begin to realize that there is so much more than ourselves?  If we actually sat and quieted our hearts and
minds and waited for our maker to speak would we be prepared to listen?  According to the Word if we seek we shall
find and if we knock the door will be opened.
God is not trying to hide Himself; in fact He makes Himself quite
obvious, we just choose not to see.

                I don’t
want to be a Christian to get what I can get out of the church or God.  I have been given the free gift of life from
the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross.  For
those that read this and don’t want anything to do with religion I encourage
you to seek out Jesus and not religion.  For
those not sure of what you believe I encourage you to talk to God and ask Him
to reveal Himself to you.  Being a Christian
is so much more than fire insurance as some say (the get out of Hell once a
Christian thing).  Hell is very real and
something that should not minimized but being a Christian is being in constant
relationship with a glorious God that loves us so deeply. I pray you don’t put the God of this universe
in a box man created and begin to experience Him in His true splendor.
