Hello friends!

I have spent the last few days at The Gateway in Matamoros, AIM’s Mexcio base. We are in training still, seminars and various assignments through the day, and debriefs at night. We are gleaning a lot of valuable info for our coming trip, but for the most valuable has been the words and sharing of the two ’06 Racers that are here. Chad Mast is going on the Race for all of ’07 with us, for year 2, and Casey came to Matamoros to assist in training. It has been relieving, in a way, to hear them share their experiences. There are still many aspects of this trip that will be surprising, as we certainly can’t predict the events to come, but they have helped to prepare us for what to expect and how to handle various situations.

There are so many questions to ask of them, and not all will be answered, but honestly, for us that is a part of the adventure! I am so excited for the coming year, and this week has certainly intensified my passion for this call. We begin ministry next week when we get to Palenque, Mexico, as well as some more spiritual training. I am anticipating the training we will receive and then put into practice. After one week with Seth Barnes and other trainers, we will be on our own there in Palenque till the end of the month.

This is all such a new thing for me, and though I guess I could be scared, I am more excited than anything. I’m excited to see how God is going to use me, and our team. I come with little practical experience and I don’t know the language, but our God is so much bigger than that. We have been encouraged time and again that the Love of Jesus is manifested in ways we may think are trivial. I may not be able to preach in Spanish, but I can certainly still love people. This is all so new to me, but I know I don’t travel or minister alone.

I have an amazing team of 4 other gals and 1 guy. We range in age from 23 to 31 and all have different experiences behind us. I would encourage you to please, please, please check out their blog sites as well – as we will be in this adventure hand in hand for a year, so you can hear about our experiences from 6 perspectives!! Their blogs are amazing insight into our time here. J (James Gilbert especially this week- he’s a fabulous writer.)
