I’m having an open house, well, two actually – on Wednesday and Friday evenings – at my parents this week.  I will be sharing my heart and my plans for the next year.  I have realized since I got home here that I haven’t explained at all what I’m doing – what the race actually is!!!  Sorry!!

My time here has been full, but so very good.  I have had a chance to hang out with my old Court Ave. Restaurant friends and will be having dinner with them this evening, and lunch with my old boss on Wednesday.  Meeting up with another friend on Thursday evening who I haven’t chatted with in a long time.  The support around here for me is awesome.  It is such a blessing to know that I am loved and missed and supported in my endeavors!

Yesterday was a cool day!  We had some missionaries from Guatemala share with us at church in the morning, and I had a chance to chat with them during the potluck afterward.  Really neat couple, and we swapped info because some of us will be passing through Guatemala in the not so distant future. :=)

Last night I went to a coffee shop downtown to visit with young people during and art exibit of a friend.  While there, I chatted with several people from church, but met a new girl who works for Intervarstity Ministries at Drake University, and ran into an old highschool friend!  I don’t speak to many people from highschool anymore, as we all went different directions, but it was great to meet up with her.  We were in our select choir together and all of us went to Germany and Prague together back when I was 16.   It’s fun to catch up – it made for a great evening.

I was really wanting to pick up some shifts at Court Ave, my old job, but my time is filling so quickly, that there is just no way it’s going to happen!!!  I will for sure go check out downtown this Friday evening though.  It is the Halloween celebration downtown, and all the staff have to dress up, so I want to go see all my friends working dressed up!  Fun times.  I took part last year and it was incredibly fun.

Doctors appointment and all my vaccinations are happening tomorrow!  Yippee – now won’t that be fun.  I will be getting 4 shots and 1 oral vaccine.  Pray for me.  Ha ha!!  I only have 5 and a half days left in Des Moines!!!
