One day, I sarcastically promised that my next blog would be about a cat. Then one fateful day, I somehow spotted the only cat in Nepal.
The day was hot and sunny as the Kathmandu sun blared down from above. I hurriedly ran upstairs looking forward to my long awaited nap. I was super excited that the house was finally empty and quiet, a rare occasion on the race. I stopped to talk to my friend, Jenny, happily telling her of my napping plans when out of the corner of my eye I spotted a tiny creature laying on our neighbors roof. My interest and concern were suddenly peeked as I struggled to see if the little one was alive.
Being an animal lover, I was born with an awesome superpower of being able to see all of God’s creatures when the rest of mankind fails to.
Moments after initially spotting the cat I found myself standing on our roof watching the tiny creature struggle to move. I quickly alerted Jenny to the problem at hand. It was clear we needed to conduct a rescue mission. This weird idea formed into a realistic plan. Jenny and I went to the small store front under the neighbors home and labored to describe the perilous situation the small creature was in. Without proper care or being reunited with its mom, the kitten would most likely die. We found ourselves the center of attention as what seemed like the whole neighborhood had became involved in exactly what message we were trying to convey. The air filled with lots of laughter as our neighbors kindly lead us to their roof.
Upon arriving at the roof, we then had to explain that the kitten was on the roof next door. Once we had overcome the language barrier, the kitten was safely passed to Jenny and then to me. As I held this beautiful creation, I noted that it was only recently born. The kitten’s tiny eyes were not even open yet. A moment later the kind neighbor man motioned to a small bamboo cat house where I carefully reunited the kitten with its mom. Joyfully, we were then invited to spend the afternoon with our neighbors. That night I thought about the events of the day and realized that this was indeed my next blog.
Before entering God’s family we are much like the kitten lost and blind, dying in a world that doesn’t care about us. Until one day Jesus came down to take all that sin and brokenness away. He literally left His home in heaven to come on the ultimate rescue mission for each and everyone of our souls. The Father sees each of us in the depths of our pain and loneliness and comes to our rescue and that is the truest example of perfect love.
Hebrews 13:5
“Be satisfied with what you have, for he himself has said, I will never leave you or forsake you. Therefore we may boldly say: the Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
Right there is one of many promises the Father has given to us, that he will never leave or forsake us. God is fighting for you and he will never stop conducting rescue missions in your life.
Psalm 84:1
“How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord of hosts. I long and yearn for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh cry out for the living God.”
