The next day, Meghan and I went to meet the girls down the street. Only Kate (one of the original girls) and Amber (one of our new friends) could come, but Kate invited two of her roommates to join. So the six of us girls went on four hour walk which included the mall and numerous pictures. Each of us linked arms with two of the girls as we walked along the beach and through town. Before I knew it, I myself in a conversation with the girls asking if they have been to church before and if they know who Jesus was. They both had heard of Him, but that was about it. One of the girls told me her friend gave her a Bible. Limited by language barriers, the conversation ended pretty quickly. Meghan made a date with Amber and ten of her English major friends for our team to meet with them to practice English. Before the night ended Kate asked “I take you to a church on Sunday night?” Umm…YES!

The next day, our team went to Sunflower Café down the street to meet with Amber and ten of her friends to practice English. We all paired up with a couple of the students. I talked with two girls we will call Lauren and Brittany. We talked for two hours. Before I knew it, Lauren asked me if I wanted her to give me a tour of campus.

The next day, Meghan and I met Lauren and her friend at the entrance to the university campus. She showed us the building where she has the majority of her classes. We ran into some of our other friends and they skipped class to hang out with Meghan. Lauren and I walked around campus for two hours and I met ten of her friends. She finished the tour by buying me an ice cream and taking Meghan and I out to dinner. After saying bye, we met back up with Amber and a few of her friends who also took us out for a Vietnamese dinner and then for Vietnamese ice cream. Before we knew it, Amber told Meghan that she had been going to church for a couple months now and invited us to join her on Sunday.

Two days later, Michael and Jeremy played music at the local café on Saturday night. We invited all of the girls we have built relationships with so far this month and the place was packed. We got to sit down and talk and sing with all of these girls for three hours. They asked if they could play Christmas music, to which the Buddhist owner was responded with an excited yes. Before we knew it we were singing worship songs in the middle of a communist nation where Buddhism is widely practiced.

The next day, Meghan and I got to go to church with our friend Amber. This was able to lead us into more conversation as we went to dinner together afterwards. Before we knew it, Amber invited us to a goodbye party her and her friends wanted to throw us on the beach.

Four days later, we met Amber and seven of our other friends on the beach. They brought us different fruits, cookies, coke, and Vietnamese food. Then they surprised us with a presents. We sat on the beach for a while until we got caught in the rain and moved inside. Two hours later we met with Lauren and one of her friends to say goodbye. We had coffee together and then she gave us presents she made. One hour later, we met with Kate and two of her friends to say goodbye. We ate ice cream together and then they bought us presents. Before we knew it we had said out goodbyes. Before we knew it we had spent a month in this university town building friendships. Before we knew the Lord had used us to plant seeds and be His light to numerous university girls.

Before we know it, through prayer, these girls will one day be called our sisters!
