The beauty of being part of a college ministry is taking part of the festivities when they arise. We were invited to take part in a Buddhist holiday festival. The students start out by paying their respects to the Temple at the Wall and then they parade into the school and have a festival.
In this particular festival there was dancing and there was the best rendition of "Project Runway". These kids made outfits from recyclable materials and came up with some of the best display of creativity I have seen in a while… Here are just a few of them:
Lady Gaga had nothing on her…
Plastic bags created a colorful display…
This was crafted out of straws and paper and bags.
This dress was crafted out of water bottles, how genius!
This was a couple's outfit… Although it was worn by two girls…. All I could think about was the black plastic pants… How hot and uncomfortable they must have been.
This one was by far my favorite:
She looked graceful and wore it with such poise! Red and Gold wrappers did not even look like recyclable materials.
This was a very playful dress drafted out of different kinds of colorful materials.
This was my second favorite:
I thought the dress was gorgeous and so was the girl… UNTIL I was told that this was a lady boy… Certainly fooled me. The dress was carefully drafted out of paper and mirrors. It was beautiful…
This one looked like bubble wrap…
This Gaga styled outfit was worn by one of the lady boys… Not sure how I felt about the outfit… It seemed a little too Raggedy Ann for my taste.
This one was made entirely out of newspaper… I thought it was very cute!
You can clearly see that these students got an A in creativity for this project.
The show ended and since I cannot speak Thai, I don't know who won or if it was even a contest. But I thoroughly enjoyed the greatest Runway show I have ever seen live.
