I was sitting in my room trying to change into my pjs after a long day. I put my pj bottoms on my left leg and followed it by attempting my right leg. I lost my balance and almost fell. Suddenly I realized that this was a daily occurrence. Day in and day out I made the same comment in my head "I can't seem to keep my balance with my right leg as I do with my left". Every day I think of stretches that I could do in order to improve my mobility. Not like I follow through with them, but today was different.

I realized that I did the same action expecting different results. When I processed that thought, I remembered that is the definition of insanity!

Putting on my pants the same way I always did is just going to cause me to loose my balance. Then it will bring into consciousness that I cannot balance long on my right leg, as well as my lack of mobility.

So I decided to try again and start the other way around. I started by putting on my pants from my weak leg, my right leg and then finishing with my strong leg, my left. It worked… I did not lose my balance and I ended up with the optimal result… MY PJ's were safely on my body.

It was a wee bit uncomfortable to do a different procedure for a familiar task. In the back of my mind were thoughts of how this was wrong and how awkward it was to be breaking the routine, but it was so right!

I believe this can be applied to our daily routines. How many times do we fall into a traditional way of doing things when we are well aware that it is not practical and can put us at risk of danger?

It may feel awkward, but veering from the routine will allow me a safer solution to my problem.

I believe that this little lesson is a reminder from The Father on thinking outside of the routine to find a solution to the problem.
