I came to training camp trying not to have expectations about the week ahead of me. I could not wait to get to training camp and meet the people who I will be spending the year 2011 with, along with the other 3 squads that will be out on the field during the same time. I was hoping that I would fall in love with the people on my squad and any hesitation about meeting them would be gone. Success! I have to say that Squad U (U Know!) is pretty awesome and I’m very happy to have everyone on my squad. I was also a little nervous about being split into our small teams. After multiple team building activities we were broken into our teams… These were going to be the people who would become my family for the next 11 months and I was really hoping that we would all click…and once again… Success! I proudly introduce team: Freely Given!

To future racers:

-Training camp is intense, no so much physically, but emotionally. Walls will be broken. Hearts will be opened. Your relationship with God will grow. God will SOOO speak to you.

-Just because training camp takes place in the south does not mean that it is going to be warm. Pack layers! Bring clothes that can get dirty. Also, bring 2 outfits that make you feel like yourself.

-Prepare to be active.

-Activities may seem cheesy… but if you put your all into it you will get a lot out of it.

-You will get dirty. Deal with it. You will stink. Deal with it.

-Come with an open mind about the food. You will experience food from different cultures. Some of it you will like. Others you will hate.

-White clothing will not remain white. Georgia dirt is red.

-Don’t be fake. Introduce yourself to everyone. People are here to love you and not judge you.

-If you don’t love your team don’t flip out. We were told that many teams who have problems in the beginning turn out to be awesome.

-Come with an open heart and open eyes about worship.

-Bring a coffee mug!

-And last of all…expect the unexpected.
