The World Race. NO I am not going to be on a television show and NO I do not have a chance at winning one million dollars. I will however be going to eleven different countries in eleven months, one country per month. Do I know EXACTLY what I will be doing in each country? Nope. I probably won’t really know until I get there and I am doing it. Exciting isn’t it?
I do however know that at some point I will be:
Working in construction, just call me Bob the Builder.
Working against sex trafficking
Preaching
Teaching
Caring for orphans
Street evangelism
Feeding the hungry
LOVING
The World Race is organized through Adventures in Missions (google them). Each tour is planned a year in advanced, so it is difficult to plan exactly what we will be doing. What AIM does is connect our teams with missionaries and people stationed where we are going and we come in to help them with whatever they need the most.
I will be carrying all of my clothing, a tent, sleeping bag, and everything else I need in a hiking backpack I have yet to purchase. Yes, I will often spend my night in my sleeping bag in a tent, sometimes I might not, I honestly don’t really know. Good thing “adaptability” is one of my top strengths.
I will be with a small team of people and we will be focusing on the same ministry in each country. We will be apart of a squad that is in the same country made up of a couple of teams. There is also more than one squad deployed at a time; some further along the journey or not as far. There are three different launches throughout the year for the World Race.
I have stepped out in faith to do this without knowing exactly what is going to happen. I do know that it is not AIM’s first rodeo, the World Race has been going since 2006. They have learned a lot and continually work to offer the best experience for the racers. They keep updated on the REAL news going on in the world and do everything they can to insure our safety. They have good relationships with the people we connect with in each country and rules for us to follow so we don’t get ourselves into trouble.
This adventure is no doubt going to be the hardest thing I have ever gone through, but also the most rewarding. I won’t be here for the holidays next year, that will definitely take a toll on myself and my family. I’ll miss my dog, my Netflix, my friends, my lake, my cellphone, my paychecks, my friends, my bed and my heated blanket. I’m taking myself out of an extremely comfortable life and my world will be turned upside down. I won’t be the same when I come back, I will be better.
Some people freak out when I tell them what I am doing, it is a blind leap of faith. But I am confident in this dream of mine and I am at peace about it. God is in control.
Knowing what I am doing, I desperately need your help to get there. Please consider supporting me financially and more importantly in your prayers. Click the support me link on the home page of this blog. You can give a one-time online by card or by mailing a check. Follow the instructions through the link. You can also personally give to me if you want, I have funds I have to raise apart from the trip fund as well. You can also give a monthly donation. I am seeking my friends and family to consider giving $10 or more every month up to departure and the first six months that I am gone. You can put an end date for the monthly donations and as of now that is 12/17/2014 for me. Please ask me if you have any questions!
Thanks again for your support.
