Hi! I’m Ali and I’m from Alabaster, Alabama. I am 23 years old and I live at home with my parents and my brother, Matt. I am super family oriented and love spending time with my siblings and nephews/niece.
I graduated from UAB in December of 2015 with a degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. I have always loved children, but didn’t feel the call towards education until halfway through college. I was unable to get a teaching job this year since I will be leaving for the World Race in January, so while I’m still here I work on a farm in our state park and as a substitute teacher.
The World Race will be my first mission trip! I have felt the pull towards missions before, but I could never find the opportunity to make it happen. So I’m pretty pumped!
I grew up going to church at New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian with my mom and brother, Matt. I would say my relationship with God has been pretty up and down. I never truly cared to live a life for Christ as a kid. I just don’t think I understood what it really meant and didn’t want to put in the effort to find out. That changed when I got older, but it still wasn’t what I wanted it to be. In order to understand something I need to see and experience it, so it was always harder for me to develop an interest and a trust in something I couldn’t physically see. I struggled with going back and forth through high school and college, but now as a young adult I have noticed differences in the way I view God. Now I have a desire to know Him. I have more trust in Him. I am seeing Him in the small moments of every day life. I am SO ready to share Him with the world!
