I’ve been in love before. Said the words “I love you” and talked about a future with someone. I’ve been invested and committed to someone, invited them into my life, and been a part of theirs. I’ve had boyfriends, dated men, well mostly boys at my age, and experienced what love is like. Or so I thought.

I’ve recently been falling deeply in love with a man. A love I’ve never experienced with anyone else. A love I didn’t know I was capable of feeling or even worthy of. Regardless of any mistakes I make, or imperfections I have, he still loves me. He promises to always be there, to love me through it all, and to always be my light in the darkness.

He’s someone who wants to be my very best friend and my husband. Someone who cares truly cares about my soul, heart, and mind. Who wants to know all of my worries, and wants to take them away one by one, reminding me that as long as we’re together everything will be all right.

His love is constant and unchanging. He loves me just as much today as he will tomorrow, for the rest of my life, and even after that. And there’s no motive behind it, no selfish desire. There’s nothing he’s expecting from me, he just loves me because he chooses to. He’s given me his heart, and all he ever wants is for me to give mine back to him.

The name of this man is Jesus.

He has been the man through it all to love me the most, love me the greatest. When I was searching for love in other places, He’s been patiently waiting for me realize that it’s already found in Him. When other relationships didn’t work out, He was there to hold my hand and remind me how beautiful I am to Him. He had a plan for me even before I was created, and He wants to lovingly walk through it with me.

What’s even more incredible is that He loves you just as much. And he wants you to experience His great love, too. Even when we don’t know God He still loves us. When we turn from Him, or choose not to love Him, He continues to be faithful in His love.

‘Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered; it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves. Love never fails.’ -1Corinthians 13:4-8.

Sometimes when I read this verse, I like to replace the word love with God. Because He is love, He created it, and He’s the one who knows how to help us experience love the best.
