First off, I want to thank everyone that has donated so far. After my last post, I had a few unexpected people donate, so I wanted to take the time to give even more thanks and let you know that every dollar is appreciated. If you haven’t had time to donate, there’s still time! I’m coming up on my first fundraising deadline, so please prayfully consider donating.
Now on to traffic.
A few weeks ago, I was leaving HEB with my boyfriend, and this car, two cars ahead of me, wasn’t paying any attention. They missed 3-4 opportunities to leave the parking lot, and were causing a major back up. So I started honking. A lot. 5-10 minutes later, they still hadn’t moved, so I sped off and was extremely angry. Blake was trying to calm me down, telling me there’s no reason to get worked up over some stranger’s car. But of course, I wasn’t having any of it.
Fast forward a week, and I’m in yoga. My teacher is going on and on about being thankful. My mind immediately flashes back to the above instance, and I realize how crazy I was. He goes on to tell us that when we’re stuck in traffic, we should be thankful that we’re wealthy enough to have a car, that we’re lucky enough to have somewhere to go, that we’re blessed to have eyesight. Well shit, he got me there. I’m leaving HEB with a car full of groceries, and can’t wait 5 minutes to leave the parking lot? I should be grateful to buy just a single item.
Next time you’re in traffic, try to think of 5 positive things instead of that 1 negative. I promise it’ll turn your entire driving experience around.
Am I really thankful for traffic? Not particularly. But am I thankful for everything God has given me to put me in that situation? Absolutely.
