Broaden my horizons
While I was in Tanzania in 2006, I spent a lot of time with Bishop Alpha Muhammed. At the time, he was the Bishop of the Rift Valley. He came to visit Colorado about a year later. I expressed my desire to go back to Africa for a longer amount of time. He said, “Let us pray and tell God of this desire.” He prayed a beautiful prayer that was incredibly elequent and moved me to tears. I can’t remember most of it. But one thing Bishop Alpha prayed, that I do remember is…
“Lord, would you broaden Alison’s horizons?” I continued to pray this and still do for my life.
I went on that year to graduate Western State College of Colorado and started working in Real Estate. I realized how much I disliked sitting behind a desk all day, staring at a computer (it didn’t take me long). One day while I was at work, I began to Google all different types of mission trips, service trips…anything having to do with Africa. But I kept coming back to Adventures in Missions and The World Race. As I read and re-read the description…I slowly realized this was perfect for me and was facinated by the concept. It incorporates so much of who I am and want to be. It would …..BROADEN MY HORIZONS in many ways. God led me to this and answered the prayer Bishop Alpha prayed over my life.
This past week has been very emotional and difficult. The selfish side of me does not want to let go. I am grieving the current life I am living. I know over the course of the year God will change me and show me things I could never imagine happening. What will be like to feed starving orphans in Africa? What will it feel like to hug the 14 year old prostitues in Asia? To bring hope to the hopeless is my mission. This will change my life for good…and it is scary, but very exciting. Being scared reminds me to keep running back to God and crying, “Help!! I need you!” I realize to show my love for God I must trust Him. So I am going to take the advice of a friend and take a DEEP BREATH, step forward and say, “Okay God, I trust you, let’s do this!”
He has affirmed this trip and provided in so many ways. What continues to suprise me is the people who continue to support me in prayer and the money that is coming in. I have to raise $13,800. I never thought I could raise that much money!! And I didn’t…it was all God. I know every person who has given (financially or is praying for me) will be blessed.
To reach my goal…
I am still about $3,000 short and I know He will provide…maybe that is through you. Please pray and seek God about supporting me financially. You can give one-time gifts or monthly donations. If you do feel moved to give, all you have to do is click “Support Me!” at the top of the page on the left and follow the directions. If you would rather, you can mail a check with “Appealed by Alison Page” in the memo section to Adventures in Missions PO Box 534470 Atlanta, GA 30353-4470. If you have any questions, don’t hestitate to get in touch with me. Just click on “Contact Me!” on the left-hand side of the page.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to my family, friends, and people who I do not even know who are making this journey possible. Whether through money, prayer, encouragement….it is all allowing me to put one foot in front of the other so that I may forever be changed for the best and to help people all over the world! Thank you thank you thank you!
