This is part 2 of 3 of an incredible work the Lord has done in my heart during my first week in Ireland.
As Poppy and I stood to our feet I knew the Lord had just removed the pressure of having to fix myself or else through my own strength. The barrier in my mind that was keeping me from going to a deeper place with God was gone in an instant.
AND THEN the band began to play their next song. As if my body having a spiritual encounter with an over bearing weight that was invisible to my eyes wasn’t enough confirmation that Jesus really can take on my burdens and fears and struggles and pain and sadness. The band began sing this:
Take a moment to remember who God is and who I am
There you go lifting my load again
Take a moment to remember who God is and who I am
There you go lifting my load again
A peace and joy that literally transcended my understanding came over me and consumed me. I stood there hands lifted high, laughing with Poppy about the perfect planner that God was revealing himself to be.
God set up in advance for Will Reagan and the United Pursuit to play that song at the moment immediately following the dramatic experience I had with letting go of the weight I was never meant to carry! The song was a direct tangible gift from God in Heaven, who is powerful beyond measure, to me.
The rest of the went like this:
No longer am I held by the yoke of this world
Come upon you the yoke of Jesus
His yoke is easy, His burden is so light
You’re lifting my load
You’re lifting my load
You’re lifting my load
Your love carries, your love carries me through
all the valleys and the darkest places
Your love carries me through
God loves me so much. It’s foolish to think he was done refining me. It was foolish to think he had stopped helping me and I was on my own to fix the problems in my life. God is the perfect Father and HE is bigger and better than I ever thought.
HA! God is awesome.
So this story continues. I wrote parts one and two of this three part series the night of the concert at 3am. I went to bed and thought, what a great day, thank you God for lifting my load.
I woke up the next morning ready and I felt like a new person. My heart was full of thanks to God. I was eager for more. However, It wasn’t long until I again felt the burden of the weight God lifted from me the night before. I picked up my bible and wrote out the truths found in Romans 12, about living as a sacrifice and allowing God to transform my heart. The more I read, the more my stomach grew uneasy. It was really an incredible feeling as though spending time reading God’s word was filling my spirit up, yet upsetting my physical body.
My squad mate, Amanda, noticed I was feeling uneasy and offered to prayed for me. For the second time in less than 24 hours God was using another believer to speak truth over me and bring wisdom and freedom. Amanda finished praying and offered some wisdom. She reminded me that I had just experienced God in an amazing way and my faith had been increased. She reminded me that there’s a great enemy of God and of my soul who would love nothing more than to see me pick that weight back up and turn away from God’s help and freedom.
Amanda and I praised God together and once again an unexplainable joy came over me. My mind was set free of trying to fix itself and I again felt released to give my burden over to God.
