Earlier this week I traveled seven hours to visit the northern part of Romania with eleven other members from my squad. We took a two day trip and were guided by Raul, the World Race contact for Drananesti, Romania. On the first day we hiked through a mountain and stayed with Raul's parents who fed us a delicious home cooked Romanian dinner and breakfast. We then traveled the next morning to a historical fort. Inside the fort was a thousand year old Cathedral! From there we took a car ride through the Carpathian Mountains which are similar to the Rocky Mountains.
Inside the Cathedral.
During the drive up, the mountains were covered by clouds and we were a bit disappointed when we couldn't see the beautiful views we heard about. As we reached the highest point the visibility was not any better. It was quite the bummer. We began our descent and traveled through a short tunnel and on the other side the clouds finally began to disperse and we were able to see the magnificent mountains and valleys.
As we continued our drive down the Carpathian's I began to connect the start of my Race to the journey up the mountain. These first two weeks have been a bit surreal and it has felt as though I am experiencing something great yet can't really grasp the magnitude of it all. I know that God is the perfect planner and He has placed me on the Race for a specific reason. I am holding onto the hope that as my Race continues I will see more of the Lord's glory and the foggy areas of my life which are blinding me will dissipate. My prayer is that my squad and I would remain faithful to Jesus’s call through the cloudy and clear times that we are bound to face.
