*** Blog on Training Camp & Uganda ministry coming soon! ๐
During our time at Training Camp we were partnered up with people throughout the week for several team building activities. This was in anticipation to be placed on a team of 6 to 7 people that we would be doing ministry with for our first months on the field. The activities challenged us on how well we worked together as a group, what was difficult for us, our communication with one another and if we were able to have fun with each other. Let’s just say the process of team formations is beautiful and the Adventures in Missions staff are so faithful in orchestrating the teams based on what God wants for each of us within the next year!
I’m beyond excited to be apart of Team Liora! The name “Liora” is Hebrew and means,“God’s gift of light to us”… how beautiful is that?! We are an all girls team made up of 6 awesome women with great diversity. We each come from different parts of the country and have unique talents. The one thing I love about this group is that each of us know that we will be willing to challenge one another and grow confidently in the women Christ intended us to be.

Ashley Ancona: Our Team Leader! Now this seriously is a wonderful girl. I had the chance to spend some time with her throughout Training Camp and she’s so much fun to be around. Ashley is from Rockford, Illinois and loves to run! She is bright, welcoming and right off the bat someone you feel like you can trust. I am so excited for her to be leading our team, she believes so deeply in each one of us and wants us to rise to our highest potential!
Jennifer Tillett: Ahh Jen is like my big sis. My squadmate Logan and I were blessed with her presence in Florida for Memorial Day weekend. She loves to pick on me and is super sarcastic but that’s what big sisters are for right? Jen has also served 9 years in the Army so she gets some brownie points for that. But overall she has an unconditional love for her whole squad and her drive is definitely for unification between people. She loves bringing people together in community. I still can’t believe we are on the same team, I can’t wait to know this girl even more!
Debbie Jacobs: Debbie! This girl has a very sweet soul. I haven’t had many conversations with her but when she talks you know she has something wise to say. I had the privilege of carrying her “unconscious” body on my back for one of our team building scenarios. It was a lot of fun and it showed me how much strength I can pull out of my small self. The whole time I was carrying her she was checking in on me and encouraging me every step of the way (even though she was technically supposed to be unconscious). I’m excited to learn more from her and oh, she is a teacher from Pennsylvania too!
Hannah Lin: Yay Hannah ๐ Can I just say that i’m really excited to have someone of Asian descent on the same team as me? Hannah is incredible. She’s from Canada and in my opinion very intelligent! I mean she minored in Russian.. COOL POINTS. Hannah is a great communicator. Really easy to talk to and knows how to achieve the goal in group activities. I was able to be in several team building scenarios with her and I would honestly look up to her every time. I know this girl has a lot to give away and I can’t wait for that too!
Samantha DeCarlo: Sam!!! I honestly haven’t been able to spend some time with her yet and I’m really looking forward to. Fun fact: we are two of the few people on our squad that are in dating relationships and she has been with her boyfriend for 5 years! I’ve been with Kevin for 6 so it will be suuuper cool to have someone to connect with and talk about missing our boo thangs on the race. I do know that Sam is from New York and is willing to try any adventurous thing out! Looks like we will be pretty great friends!!
- Excited to start off our first month of ministry with these ladies in Rukungiri, Uganda!
