How time flies! I’ve been doing ministry for nearly two weeks here in Rwanda and I want to give you a glimpse of what our team is doing here.

We’re staying in a smaller village setting called Kabuga. Kabuga is part of great Kigali, Rwanda’s capital, so we’re not very far from a lot of fun stuff! We’re staying with Pastor John’s family in his own house. Quarters are a little bit tighter than last months. The girls on my team took a little too much joy in the fact that John (my teammate – not the pastor) and I share a bed this month, but I say there’s nothing more manly than a little pillow talk. Kabuga itself is very beautiful. Rwanda lives up to it’s reputation as the land of 1,000 hills. We have quite a view from where we’re from. We run most every day and I can safely say I haven’t gotten sick of taking in the rolling mountains.

Our typical ministry day has us doing a few different things. We start off in the mornings by going to a school that is attached to Pastor John’s church. We split off into three different classrooms each at different levels. We typically teach basic english, the ABC’s, counting, and other simple concepts. The language barrier here is much more difficult than it was in Uganda. I love the young kids we’re teaching, but I admit it’s pretty draining. In the afternoon, we do one of two things. We’ll either do door-to-door evangelism, or teach at the church. Door-to-door is like what we did in Uganda. We simply walk around and engage in spiritual conversations with people. It’s pretty cool! We’ve also been giving free english and music lessons to the members of the church we’re part of. It’s really cool to be a blessing to our hosts and their community in that way. I have focused on teaching guitar which is a lot of fun.

On the weekends we are part of a bible study with the church, which I actually haven’t done as of yet. But, who doesn’t love a good bible study?! Sundays are typical African craziness. Church is several hours long with lots of preaching and speakers way too loud for the small building that held them. I had a chance to preach our first Sunday on James 3, which went well. I ended up pulling out a knife for an illustration, and there were more than a couple shocked faces. You never can tell what you’re going to get with us Mzungos.

We’ve had a few different chances to visit the city which has been great. We visited a genocide memorial, which I will talk about in another blog, went to a supermarket with legitimate American food, and have found some fun activities to do! Kigali is a great city. You wouldn’t know all the country has gone through looking at it today.

That about sums up what we’re doing in Rwanda! I am really enjoying it here, and can’t believe I’m only two weeks already from leaving. Keep praying for our team as we continue to go out and do ministry!

**I’m having a lot of trouble posting pictures on my blogs. Please take a look at my facebook page to see some of the photos I’ve been taking!**
