My name is Alex Compton and I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina (the Queen City or QC for those in the know). I have awesome parents, Ken and Mimi, 2 great older brothers, Christian and Jackson, and a sweet little sister, Jane. Most of my family lives in Charlotte or an hour away in Spartanburg, SC so I got to enjoy the company of my extended family (cousins, aunts, and uncles) growing up.

I attended Charlotte Christian school from kindergarten to 12th grade and loved every minute of it. I am a very passionate person and I hate sitting still so I did everything in high school. I was on the football and track team, I was in the school's traveling acting troupe, and I was involved in Student Government. Thankfully I had enough free time to apply to college and God ended up putting me at North Carolina State University (GO PACK!!!). I was unsure about this at first because I really wanted to go to UNC-Chapel Hill, but within the first few weeks God showed me why I belonged at State.

During my first semester of college, I became very involved with Campus Crusade for Christ and was asked to lead the Evangelism Team. I loved being able to outreach to students and share my faith. I was then asked to lead a Bible study, which I have been leading ever since. In addition to Crusade, I needed something to keep me active, so I joined the Men's Rugby Team. I played rugby for 2 years and had to give up for other opportunities but I loved every minute of it. I am currently in the Student Senate, which is why I'm no longer playing rugby. Not much has changed from high school, I still want to do anything and everything, even if I don't have time to do it!

Now I am in the process of applying to medical schools. I have wanted to be a doctor for a few years and have spent a lot of time shadowing doctors and working in clinics. God has place a deep desire to help people through medicine, I just don't know where He wants me to be yet. Part of me wants to join the Navy and become a Naval doctor for a few years and another part of me wants to serve as a medical missionary overseas. Wherever I end up I know that it will be where God wants me and I will use it to his glory. The future is wide open for me after the World Race but its kind of exciting not knowing exactly what is going to happen!
