Ok so we’re supposed to blog about our expectations, but it’s going to be hard since this is so insanely different than anything I’ve ever done in my entire life. But I’ll take a shot. Without further ado, here in no particular order are my expectations for WRJune2010
I expect God doesn’t care a lot about my expectations. He’s going to use me in the best possible way He can even if I don’t understand it or even like it. Right now I tell myself I’m okay with that.
I expect my highest high to be higher than I can even imagine right now because I expect to see God more often and more clearly than I do right now.
I expect my lowest low to be lower than I can even imagine right now. I expect this to be due to the unbelievable suffering going on in the world that most of us will never ever come close to experiencing.
McDonald’s is way down on my list of places I want to eat right now, but I expect that there will be at least once I’m very grateful to see one and eat some American food and drink a Coke/coke (sorry, we already have racer inside jokes).
I expect to see real miracles like the ones we read about in the Bible. Ones where there is absolutely nothing or nobody you can credit it to except God.
I expect to be completely blown away by God approximately one million times.
I expect to come back home with tons of great stories to add to my already great story collection.
I expect to fall in love with the kids we encounter and be inspired by their faith and happiness.
I expect to be blown away by the beauty of God’s creation, and sadly I expect I can never do it justice through words or pictures.
I expect my prayer habits to improve by about oh let’s say 4,000% because I expect to face times where there is absolutely nothing I can do but depend upon God.
I expect that the fact I’m going on this trip will never seem 100% real until I go to sleep the first night in Ireland and realize I won’t see my home, family, friends or bed for approximately 8,000 hours.
In college, it was a rare Wesley Foundation trip that I came back uninjured from. Seeing as those generally lasted 1 or 2 days I expect that I will hurt myself somewhere in the 11 months.
I expect within 5 minutes of posting this I’ll think of 5 more really great expectations I should have put up here.
Finally, I expect it won’t take me forever to make a simple blog post such as this one by the end of the trip because I’ll have a mastery of how to make things bold and different colors without everything going crazy and words disappearing to who knows where. Seriously, why did they evaporate when I tried to make them green?
I hope to fall in love with God more each and every day and realize nothing matters except glorifying Him.
I knowGod will be with me, working in me and through me the entire time always willing to provide joy on even the most difficult of days.
