Depth.

This word has been spoken over me a few times in the past 2 months, and I was encouraged/challenged to “go deep” and discover what that meant for me, and what God was trying to reveal to me.

You would think that after living with myself for 25 (almost 26!) years I’d know all there was to know about me, right?

False.

God knows all there is to know about me.

He sees me, all of me. He knows my thoughts before I think them. He knows every hair on my head. He knows my past, present, and has already been to my future. He knows parts of me that I have yet to even consider or encounter.

Talk about a mind-blowing revelation…which both excites and terrifies me, but it’s not all too surprising. We’re talking about the creator of the universe here… I could live a thousand years and never truly know the full extent of my being!

But I know that God has been working in my life to reveal new things to me and I’m ready to dive head first into whatever those things may be.

Already He has told me that He desires to show me who I trulyam. Not who my past says I am. Not who my friends and family say I am. Not even who I say I am. But who He says I am.

The other day I wrote this prayer:

Lord, lead me into the unknown, to the deep places You’ve called me to. My heart and soul ache to be there, but I’m lost and need Your guidance. I don’t want to live for myself and continue following in my own ways. I want to walk in Your ways and I want the desires of my heart to reflect Your desires for me. I don’t have the answers, but I’m asking You to show me. Reveal Yourself and Your will to me. Lord, what am I being called to do? What is Your plan for my life? And what do I need to do in order to make that happen? I know that You will work out all things for good, and I have no doubts about my future, since it is secure in You. I love you. I trust you. Amen.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” ~Isaiah 55:8-9

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” ~Philippians 1:6

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.” ~Romans 12:2

…since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” ~Colossians 3:9-10

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
