We have spent the pastWe have spent the past four days and five nights in Port Klang, Malaysia and tomorrow morning we are headed to Penang mainland and are embarking on a brand new ministry opportunity for that community.
While we have been here our service opportunities have been numerable.  Just to give you an idea…

On Thursday we had 7am morning devotional with Pastor Anthony (love him), went to a pastor's meeting to pray over a Christmas program that they are putting on (it's the first one in the history of this area), then we went to Shekinah Women's Home and spent time having lunch and caroling, playing games and sharing stories with the ladies before having high tea, next, we went prayer walking over Little India City that the people of that community would see Jesus more than ever before.  Our entire day was ended with an amazing dinner in the home of one of the sweetest families: Jit, Alise, Sabrina, Shamima.  They cooked curry chicken and rice with beans and fruit/veggie salad and some roti.  We got to pile on their couches and spend an amazing time of fellowship together just sharing about life before the race and what we pray it is after the race.

On Friday we had 7am devotional with Pastor Anthony again and then split our team to go hang out with some kids at different schools.  My group went to St. Barnabas school and we had a small assembly with the kids.  There were about 100 kids, they are all Maymar refugees that are not acknowledged by the government.  All of the kids were a little skiddish of us when they first saw us, but once Tara and April were done loving on them and Chelsea and Janelle played some games and I let them strum my guitar while I changed chords they warmed up to us and were ready for assembly.  We sang songs with them like Father Abraham, I've Got Peace Like a River, My God is So Big, Every Move I Make (I even danced a little with my guitar to try to distract the kids from the singing-we were struggling a bit-and they loved my dancing) then we broke up into pairs and spent time in their classrooms learning about them.  Later that afternoon we went to help set up the International Food Festival that we volunteered at all day Saturday.  The day ended with a great dinner with Matthew, the coordinator, and some of the other men and women that were responsible for the program.

Saturday morning we had 7am prayer time and headed out at 7:30am to finish setting up the festival before it kicked off.  We spent the day mingling with people and doing whatever they needed, whether it was running games, selling coupon books or counting money at the end of the day.  I was honored to serve along side the girls as we spent 10 hours pouring into this event.  The International Food Festival is put on for the Maymar people to come and share their business with the community.  It is sponsored by 20 local churches of all different denominations and has been successful for the past three years.  It allows everyone to come together and experience each other regardless of race, religion or creed.  Courtesy of Matthew, we were able to finish the day with a great Western dinner at Pizza Hut!  It was glorious and much needed.

Today we got to split up and experience different churches and work with children and youth.  Working with the youth was such a fun time of praising, singing and dancing together before we shared about each other and April shared about Peter walking on water before the Lord.  Tonight we have the privilege of going to a special banquet that is to raise awareness of Migrant Ministry Klang and hopefully gain some support for their ministry.  It is a formal dinner that we get to dress up for, complete with skirts, jewelry and makeup that someone was sweet enough to sponsor us for because they wanted to honor us by letting us be a part.

The days have been long and packed and the nights have been short and quick, but the harvest has been plentiful.  Personally I am drained, worn out and could really use a comfy pants on my couch with coffee day, but these people just beckon to be loved.  They are worth being drained and worn out.  I am glad to give up my comfy pants on my couch with coffee day for them.  My prayer is that they see Christ in my actions.  That I am loving them wholeheartedly with all of my energy, not just what I can give for the time being.

I feel immensely connected to the people I have fellowshiped with here and am sad that it is only five days out of the race that we are in Port Klang, but I'm so excited to see what God has yet to unfold and has waiting for us in Penang.
