Worship.
By definition it means to feel an adoring reverence or regard. What does Webster know? This isn't just a feeling or an act, it's a lifestyle.
It's all that we are in a nice neatly wrapped package, right?
Neatly wrapped with hands at our side, eyes reading the lyrics, and taking steps that are personally ordained in order to make logical sense. I mean at least that's what I see in most believers.
People that are willing to claim their God, but not willing to embrace Him. I'm pretty sure I recognize it because I myself lived it for so long.
This past Sunday I, along with some squad mates, had the privilege of leading praise for the English and Tagalog services at the JCCV (Jesus Christ Church of the Valley). LOVED it. We led them in song and everyone in the room shouted His glory, boisterous with honor for Him. You could see the reverence written on each one of their faces.
Each face filled with sheer truth that the Lord is good. Filled with hope that the Lord would embrace their every need and deliver them.
One of my absolute favorite things is leading worship. I usually have a tendency to shy away from playing guitar or singing because while I am capable, I am not as gifted as others. However, I have not found myself questioning that here. I have jumped at every opportunity to play and while I'm not rockin a mic, I'm still belting it.
In the midst of standing on stage during the second service, trying to stay focused enough to remember the chords so that I didn't screw it up and not think about how sore my fingers were I had this moment where God just thumped me on the forehead and said, listen.
Listen to my children sing. Listen to your brothers and sisters sing. Listen. This is your family. How proud are you to be part of this? How joyful are you to stand before me alongside of them?
All of a sudden I had never heard more clearly than I did in that moment. My ears were tuned to 80 people, 60 of which were children and the others fellow racers and people from the squatter village. I. was. elated.
Hands down, best version of Jesus, Lover of my Soul I have ever heard in my life.
These people are my people. We are one in the same. We are worship together. Each of us playing an integral role in the body of Christ.
