The city is buzzing with life… but a life that is so vastly different from the one I was accustomed to. The day begins early, and moves at a slow pace. The streets are clean and the buildings speak of a deeper story about the city…about the people. The market is coursing with vendors and customers, with fresh fruit and vegetables grown in the rich volcanic soil on every corner. I simple am in awe, stunned that I am actually here…Yet somehow it is so familiar to me…like this is what I have always done… Ushered in on the wind that sweeps through the city in the early morning is the whisper of Kingdom… It is here…Doors are opening… these people will be changed… It is thrilling!
On our first day they had us hike a volcano. It was intense, but we bonded as a squad as we climbed. Upon reaching the top we saw God’s beauty unfold all around us. As the mountian we stood on melted like wax, and the lush earth down below sang of His glory, we were humbled…Our God who made such beauty sees so much more beauty in His children… He loves us so much that He invites us to see…to take it in…to be a part of His plan… It was so amazing…
Last night God did a like of refining in me… I felt like I was on fire… the heat searing me to my core… and so the refinement went. Before the end He swept over me with a cooling peace… As I lay in bed that night all I could think about was the volcano… the rock so coarse and brittle… yet God melts it like wax, carrying it down to the valley… it is crushed and worked into soil… That soil produces some of the most lush places on earth… I felt like God was moving me from volcanic rock to rich soil in which He would grow in me things I can’t even imagine…
I am thrilled to see what He does next, no matter what…no matter how painful… no matter how amazing! We leave Antigua in the morning and head to Panajachel where my small team and I will step out in faith together. The rest of our squad will pair up and head to three different ministry sites all over Guatemala. My small team and I look forward to seeing what God will do as we spend the rest of this month in Panajachel, Guatemala. We will do construction mostly, witnessing to the city by acting it out… we also have and awesome chance to preach and teach at the recently established English church. I ask for your prayers over myself and my team…over our entire squad. God is here in Guatemala and Freedom for the people is fast approching… still the enemy isnt going to give up the ground without a fight. Our desire is to love these people with all that is in us… To pour out what has been so freely given to us… it will be the greatest adventure… and oh how humbled and blessed I am to call this my life…
