Team lovebound gets the blessing of serving the month of October in Panajachel, Guatemala.  When we pulled up after a 3 hour van ride from Antigua I was blown away at how beautiful it is here.  The city is on Lake Atitlan which is surrounded by a bunch of volcanoes.  The weather is perfect and the people are very welcoming.  They are catching on very fast that we do not want a boat ride every time we walk down the street.

We are working with Pastor Benjamin Meijer and his wife, Lilly.  They founded Mi Reta (My Challenge) in 2002.  Three days before we arrived they were able to purchase a missionary hostel.  So no tents for us this month!  We are so blessed to be here and work alongside Pastor Ben and his team.

Monday thru Friday during the day we are doing construction work where we are staying so it’s ready for future mission teams as well as a woman’s house in the church.  She was basically living in pieces of scrap metal she found at the bottom of the lake, and she has 3 kids.  So we are happy to help in any way we can.  (Construction is not my forte!)

At night we are doing different things.  Monday-Wednesday we are doing home bible studies with families in the church.  Thursday night is the Spanish church service.  Friday night we teach English and Saturday night is youth group.  Sunday at 7pm is their main church service which is in English and Spanish so we are getting ready to go.

I can’t believe I’ve already been gone a week.  It has gone by so fast and I know the entire year will fly by.  The team is still trying to get adjusted to life here and I’m sure as soon as we get into a groove it’ll be time to go to Nicaragua!  But we are so blessed and grateful and can’t wait to see how God uses us this month.
