Last night at about 8 p.m. (Thailand time) I had the fluid extracted from my left lung. The doctor came in with his 2 nurses and they did the procedure right in my room! Crazy, right? He took some sort of small hollow needle and poked it in my lower left lung between my ribs. He used a metal needle to get in to my lung, and then used a plastic needle to extract the fluid.

Side note: I was given a sleeping pill before hand to help with the anxiety of it all, and the area was numbed before he inserted the hollow needle for extraction.

The whole procedure lasted about 20 minutes and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. However, I could feel the plastic needle in my lower left lung cavity and that was a WEIRD feeling. I'm not entirely sure how they extracted the fluid since I wouldn't watch and I didn't want to know so I wouldn't be freaked out any further. But they did drain the fluid in to a glass jar. I will have to post a photo of the fluid when I can, but this blog software doesn't like iPads at all, so I need to use a computer to upload photos.

And in more exciting news, I was discharged from the hospital today! YAY! I will have to go back for a follow up appointment on Friday and next Monday before we leave for Malaysia.

Before I end this blog, I would like to say another huge THANK YOU to all of you who have been praying for me. This procedure went really well, and I know it was because of all your prayers for me. I'd also like to say a big THANKS to Ashley Brady who held my hand and prayed out loud during the procedure, which I am still very thankful for!
