Hello from Malaysia!

Malaysia is a country that is 60% Muslim, 20% Buddhist, 10% Christian, and 10% other misc.  When we arrived off the plane it was a bit of a shock to see all the women covered from head to toe in their traditional dress.
After our arrival we went to Pastor Peter’s restaurant “The Canteen”.  Him and his wife own a restaurant and are opening another one.  Above his restaurant are two floors that he uses to house missionaries and people that need a place to stay.  He also uses the spaces to hold different bible studies and churches.  He told us that he likes using the restaurant as a way to meet all kinds of different people.  He will talk with them, pray with them, minister to them and share God’s love.  He said he wants to reach one person each year and disciple them and then they reach someone and so on and so on… He said that is how the kingdom grows.  We left there after a couple of days and have been staying with Pastor Tony and his wife.

They use organic farming to share the Gospel.  There are many jungle villages in Malaysia and they have started farms there.  This not only provides food for the villagers but also a way to make money.  Pastor Tony told us that they just made a contract with a very large supermarket chain.  He was very happy because this will do a lot to help the tribes people.  He said he is able to witness not only to the villagers but to all the people he does business with.

We have been here a few days and have helped Pastor Tony get his new office and packaging space ready for his new business venture.  We painted office spaces and also had the opportunity to build a “cold room”.  This is basically a large walk in refrigerator room.  It has been a few days of hard work but it has been exciting to see the finished product.

We are leaving tomorrow and heading out into the jungle.  We will be staying in one of the villages.  We will be assisting the tribes people in anyway we can through building, farming, teaching, preaching, evangelizing, and just building relationships.  We will be there a couple of weeks with no running water, electricity, or anything.  It will be a wonderfully peaceful time to love and serve God’s children.
