Please go back and read the Where? Congo?! blog if you have not yet read it.
So, I was blessed to be able to visit my step grandmother, Marie, in the beginning of September prior to launching on the World Race. We had a great talk and it was such a blessing to know and to be able to see Christ in and through our conversations. She suggested that I read this book called Half the Sky about oppressed women around the world. I started reading it on the bus ride from Guatemala to El Salvador. It was interesting because the first few stories highlighted women from Cambodia, Thailand, South Africa, and India (all places we plan on going). Then the other night, I read about Congo…interesting, but possibly coincidental since a lot of countries are being highlighted. The book talked about this one woman from Edina, Minnesota (where I grew up for the first five to six years of my life) who went to the University of Minnesota (hey! same here…) and ended up going to Congo to work there at an organization called HEAL Africa.
I prayed when I first heard about Congo from Ronnie. I told God that I would be willing to go where He leads me but that if He wants me to go to Congo that He will have to open up those doors and provide the way and that I was not going to go out of my way to research Congo. Seems like God held up His end of the bargain, huh? I´m excited to see what else the Lord has to say about this.
Another thing that has been impressed on my heart lately is to share that God has such a call for everyone´s life. I am blessed that this is my current call, but everyone has one. It´s those that actually pray about what it is and then are moved to ACTION that get to experience the blessings of it. I have also been meditating on the fact that Christ often would mention to those “with ears to hear.” If you have ears to hear, you know that you do because you are lined up with God´s will. If you don´t have ears to hear or if you are unsure if you do, I would suggest that you get on your knees and you pray that you will have ears to hear and a mind to understand! The whole reason we are on this earth and have this life is to meet Christ and have a relationship with the Father through Him. I am so thankful that I am there and from that point my whole life now is to share that with others and love others for the glory of our Heavenly Father.
