This is part 2 to a blog I wrote a couple of weeks ago entitled “It can change in a moment”.

At the end of that blog, I asked for prayer that God would use the events of that night to draw Adi’s father closer to Himself.  The team and I have been praying that constantly, but how small my faith was.  Adi’s dad was pretty cynical and never went to church.  From the conversations I had with him in Spanish, I discovered that he believed in God, but didn’t see much of a need to act on that belief, or even that he needed God at all.  Fast forward just a few days to Sunday, September 20.  Adi’s dad is standing in front of the church confessing his belief in Christ and stepping forward to be baptized.  Pastor Sandu asked him if he was doing this just to please someone else, and he said promptly “no”.

“Why are you doing this?”  Pastor Sandu asked.

“Because I believe in God and I want to follow Him for all my life.  I want to tell others about Him so that they can know Him too.”

He went under the water and when he emerged, I honestly felt like there was a different man standing there.  Adi was so happy, standing there watching his father finally confess a love for God.  Adi’s father grabbed the microphone and said something like, “we never know how much time we have, so if any of you has not been baptized and believed in God, there’s still plenty of water here, com on up!”

He’s an evangelist already 🙂  I don’t know what God did during those few days after the accident, but I can honestly say that from my conversations with him that he is a changed man.  This is what the world needs to know.  Jesus was not just some guy who died a couple of thousand years ago.  He is alive and working and He has the power to change lives.  I have seen it happen, and it is beautiful.  This entire month was worth it for Adi’s dad.  This entire year would be worth it.  I could almost hear the angel’s rejoicing in heaven.  I don’t think God could have smiled any bigger.  This is what it’s about.  People coming to Him.  I don’t know if I helped, although I’d like to think that my conversations were at least a little beneficial, but that’s not the point.  The point is that God was glorified and that’s what this whole thing – life – is about.
