Launch day is set. September 5th I and my fellow racers will rendezvous in Atlanta, Georgia for our final few days of training. And, then we’ll be off to our first destination.

This week ended my summer working at Camp Peniel, a Christian youth camp in the hill country of Marble Falls, TX. I along with three others had the joy of directing the Work Crew program. High school students came for two weeks at a time to serve the camp through washing dishes, serving food, cleaning bathrooms, taking out trash, etc. We oversaw these activities as well as taught bible studies, developed relationships, and had a great time together.
Among many of the fun things that we did, one was family groups. In order to have a smaller setting for discussions we divided everyone into four groups and each of us directors became a parent to that group. It was my first time to be a mom to teenagers…let alone be a mom at all. One afternoon my family went on a fishing outing. We attempted to relate every aspect of fishing to the Gospel in someway…it became pretty hilarious. With the help of one of my “sons” I caught this lovely catfish!
Now, the race is on for me to prepare for my departure. Less than a month away! I am spending time with family, continuing to raise support, and gathering all my necessities for my journey.
As always I appreciate and need your prayers in this process. One of my support raising deadlines is approaching. August 18th I need to have $7,500 in my account to be able to go. I am currently at $4,900. If 26 people donated $100 dollars I would reach this goal.
