Warfare Breakout
Week two here in Chicago was full of challenges and learning curves for us!
We had a smaller team than the first week with the majority being soon-to-be 9th graders. Pretty scary our first day!!

Anyways, the week started out with quite a few of us on the team being frustrated over the atmosphere of the group we had here. We weren't sure what to do, until Holy Spirit showed up and led us to do a 'guy talk' with the guys and a 'lady talk' with the ladies.
Our men for the week!
However, before any of that could happen, some of our team started to get sick, as well as a couple of youth throughout the week. The most daunting part was one night one of the leaders from the Canadian group woke up at 2:30 am and had to be rushed to the hospital.
(Please continue to pray for her and everything dealing with that).
Anyways, we finally got to have the talks and by the end of the guy's talk the youth, aka the MEN, were much more unified as brothers and ready to go for the rest of the week. It seemed the women were as well the next day!
The atmosphere and attitude of all the participants shifted. We seemed to get the upper hand!

Ministry every day continued despite the challenges with Safe Haven moving forward, prayer walks, street clean-ups, work in Chinatown, among a few other random opportunities to serve in the community.

More spiritual warfare, however, came upon us and Wednesday night as I was going to do the teaching with Dan down from sickness, I felt the Lord prompt me to lead the group in some hand-to-hand prayer combat (aka let's intermingle the groups, hold hands, and pray mightily for our sister in the hospital).

When the groups left Friday, it was heart-wrenching to see them go, yet I felt like a proud Papa who had done his job well helping to raise a mighty bunch of boys and girls up to be men and women of God! I have no doubt that their towns will NEVER be the same!

~P.S.: You guys seriously rocked my socks and I will never forget you, nor your hearts, so to the Canada and Quincy, IL groups of week two summer 2012…keep on keepin' on and we SHALL meet again!!! Keep us posted how everything is going with you all!! 😀
~P.S.S.: Our friend, Terri, who went to the hospital was able to be released and fly home to Canada with her husband. They will continue to figure out what is wrong there. God be praised she is okay!
