The Power of Prayer
Well, another month is winding down and I must say it has been a pleasure and a joy to be here in Thailand with Step Ahead. We've gotten to see a lot of different aspects of the ministry here and work with quite a few different churches in the area, even to the point that this past Sunday we went with one local pastor to do a kid's program for an hour, but ended up traveling all over the place to drop off members of the congregation and ended by stopping at a hot spring to boil eggs (with a thunderstorm looming, I might add).
The hot spring.
I've learned quite a bit about prayer this month. I mean I've always known it's importance and power, but well I guess I just re-learned how important it is for us to spend time in prayer as a team and as individuals lifting others up. We challenged ourselves to pray more, for each other, for members of the squad the Lord placed on our hearts, and for different aspects of the ministry. (Read my blog titled 'Prayer Tour' about some of that).
Anyways, today, we went to Thai Totes for an hour and a half to just worship and pray over that building, village, and people and it was pretty darn amazing! God allowed for the five of us (five because our team leader, Lindsay, has already left for Hua Hin with the other team leaders and our squad leaders) to just worship via Dex's iPod and pray as we felt led. I could feel the electricity of His presence and power in that place and I can tell you that that Sea Gypsy village is covered in prayer to the point that it will soon be radically changed! God is moving and working in that place.
So, if you are struggling with prayer, then well keep praying and know that regardless of how we feel at that moment God hears our prayers and listens to the point He will answer those prayers we pray in a humble, contrite, and honest, unselfish manner.
"The LORD has heard my plea;the LORD accepts my prayer." ~ Psalm 6:9
"And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith." ~Matthew 21:22
"Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working." ~James 5:16
Many instances in Scripture involve prayer; Jesus Christ, Himself, had to go off alone, in order to pray for strength to go to the cross. So, when all seems bleak and lost, pray and then pray some more. Never stop praying!
Within 24 hours my team will be heading with the rest of the teams down here in south Thailand to Hua Hin for our month 5 debrief. It is going to be an amazing time with our squad and our squad coaches (parents basically), as well as the director of The World Race, Michael Hindes, his wife Kathleen and two staff members, Sean and Jimmy…I cannot wait! This time will also be the time I get my dragon on my right side. My squad-mate, Keryn Senn, is working on drawing/sketching it out for me and I will go get it in my free time.
As for next month, my team will be working with Teams W.O.W. and En Gedi in Penang, Malaysia near the city of Georgetown, which from what I've gathered is on an island and is extremely beautiful, even with its skyscrapers and all. We will be working with YWAM with quite a few different options for ministry. I am super excited about all this.
Anyways, stay tuned for my next blog from debrief about my dragon, so you'll know its meaning and all, as well as possibly a video of my team performing a song for our squad's karaoke contest this debrief, which isn't just about having fun…ok it is, but in the hopes that it allows us to be filled up again by the Lord after the long month of ministry and pouring so much of ourselves out. Love ya'll!!
A hat I used at one of the churches…reminds me

*Please pray for our safe travels and strength to continue. Also, Dex Meeks, my teammate is in need of support still, so if you would like to help him, then please visit his blog at http://dexmeeks.theworldrace.org/
