Back to True Love: III
Looking back, I could see Him there waiting for my decision on any given subject (say happenings within my last relationship) with eyes full of love. I would make my decision (the wrong one) and those eyes were still full of love, but the pain behind them was very evident. Yet…He still said, 'As you wish.' He still allowed me to make my decisions and have free will. I can tell you that those paths ended up being very bleak and dark times. To be honest, I almost lost myself and Him…forever.
We all have choices and decisions to make and He longs to give us counsel, but those times when we decide to take our inheritance and run, so to speak, He says, 'As you wish.'
This brings up the parable about the Prodigal Son (Luke 15), where the father copmlied with his youngest son's request to receive his inheritance early, even though the father knew his son would come to ruin. In effect he said, 'As you wish.'
Thankfully, the story doesn't end there for when the son came home looking to beg for forgiveness and to work with the servants the Father ran to him with jubilation and open arms. God, our Father, our Daddy, does the same. Just the act of coming over the crest of the hill back home to Him causes His heart to race and His long strides to come to us with open arms.
In Hosea 14:4, God says, "I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, for my anger has turned away from him."
Jeremiah 31:3 reprises, "The Lord has appeared of old to me saying: 'Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you…'"
…out of the mire, the muck, the filth…
…out of the darkness, the languish of sorrow…
…drawn us back to Him, back to His presence, back indeed to His true love.
So, in remembrance of Valentine's Day, God desires you to be His Valentine, His son or daughter He can adore with a perfect, unadulterated love. Please, come back to the One True Love, our First Love–it's worth the surrender of the things of this world!! YOU are WORTHY of GOD'S LOVE!!!
*All three blogs and the poem, 'As You Wish,' were written in the middle of the night as I listened to the sounds of His redemption rain falling outside my window and as I opened myself up to His teaching and thoughts. He is so beautiful!
