My heart was racing. I thought my stomach might jump out of my mouth.

The World Race is known for pushing us out of our comfort zones. That was a big part of by I decided to join. One area of comfort I was not too excited to leave was my palate.

Traveling in Southeast Asia is a culinary adventure. When it comes to street food, I never really know what I'm eating, let alone his to pronounce it.

My encounter with street food in Cambodia was a little different. About half of the food carts offered what looked like a Fear Factor challenge.

Crickets
Grasshoppers
Snakes
Cockroaches
Tarantulas

All fried up and ready.

Many a racer have "eat a tarantula" scribbled on their World Race bucket list. I was no different.

But here's the problem: I am terrified of big creepy crawly spiders. My first encounter with a tarantula was a year ago on a missions trip to Belize. I snapped his photo of my friend, Bethany, which pretty much sums up my attitude towards these creatures.

After much trepidation I was finally able to pick up the fried tarantula. Then, I did it. I ate my fear.
