TRUST AND OBEY
For there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus than to trust and obey.
One of my favorite hymns we sang growing up was “trust and obey.”
With such a joyful tune and usually confident singers all around me in the church it sounds like such a simple task, but not quite.
Webster’s dictionary would define trust as
a : assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something
b : one in which confidence is placed
As time is flying by here on this side of the equator I am starting to worry. I have been worrying and questioning about finances for this trip as well as what might come next. Where does God want me to be? What does the Lord want me to do? Why do I feel so unsure about any decision for next year?
The song goes onto say the following:
“When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey.”
I have definitely been abiding closer and closer with the Lord and asking Him (more like begging Him) to show me the desires He has placed in my heart for the future. With that, some things that have been filling up my journal rather fast seems to be a theme of identity. “God who do You want me to be?” Or who did You make me to be?”
