“To think you can love God without being changed by Him, is to think you can jump into the ocean and not get wet. To really love Him is to understand that your life is going to be wrecked by Him, and build up into something beautiful, into something lasting.” — T.B. LaBerge

So much truth in that statement.
I thought coming on the race I could get away with learning and growing in how to love The Lord, but keep myself the same – I mean I wasn’t a totally bad person before so why change?
But real talk, honestly, I got dooped – see I never really planned on coming on the race. I applied for the fun of it, only to tell people this is what I was “planning” on doing to sound interesting or something of the sort. I was in the process of figuring out the rest of my life, planning out a job & moving into the city. Well joke is on me because here I am seven months into the race in Malawi, Africa and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else in the world.
But Jesus knew what He was doing. Being completely honest, I thought for quite a while that coming on this whole thing was a big mistake – and being super hard on myself I just threw it in the jar with all the other wrong decisions I felt Ive made in my life.
But, in these last six months I have gotten completely drenched, soaked and engulfed in the water. My life has been absolutely flipped upside down, wrecked & I can now see the new building that is way more secure and stable than before – and its lovely and definitely permanent.
My life is forever different.
For me its all about simplicity from now on. Before I made things so difficult, every decision such a process & never just took life for what it is – which is this wonderful gift to live adventure with Jesus and enjoy the beauty and blessings He constantly gives us & if and when trouble arises we have the creator of the universe in our corner so why worry —really its that simple.
And so the best you can do – the best anyone can do – is make the choices in life that best aligns with who you are. Which is sometimes the most hardest decision to make- laced as it is with fear.
Take the choices that best aligns with you are – with who you are because of who He is.
It really is that simple & in my opinion beautiful – it takes some of the stress out of life to recognize who you are because of who Jesus has made you & to follow your heart in that – no need to complicate all of the rest.

Just a quick update: This month we were supposed to be in Mozambique, however The Lord has more work for us in Malawi it seems like. After a few days of attempting to enter Mozambique we were denied entry, so in Malawi we stay for month seven! My team & I have partnered with a local church in Lilongwe and will be working with the community doing outreach work and wherever else we are lead.

Also, I am so close to being fully funded, but not quite there yet. The final deadline was at the beginning of the month- which I have missed. This means I have until February 4th to raise at least $1,000 in order for me to continue the race. I absolutely know this is where I am supposed to be and I have no doubt God will provide what is needed. Any donation would help and be extremely appreciated. Thank you!
