Lately there have been many trials and struggles in my life and those around me. If we let Him, God can teach us important lessons through these times. And we love the idea of growing deeper with God cause how hard can it really be??
but once you are in the struggle-

IT. IS. HARD.

And I know I’m not the only one here, seemingly stuck in the cycle of stress, or anxiety, or sleep deprivation, or depression, or (enter bad thing here). The devil is real and he lies to us in any way we let him. While reflecting on this, I wrote a poem about what it it to love. Loving isn’t just a feeling we get about something or someone, but an action that shows how much we care. It lets others know they aren’t alone and they are needed. That every single person makes an impact in the world. God made us for a purpose and part of it is to show others around us His love.

So please ignore how this might seem cheesy cause it rhymes, and instead take a moment think about how you love. I challenge you to compliment or give someone a note to remind them how much they mean to you or as a gratitude for what they’ve done. Life is too short to take people for granted.

To Love

We are told to show love

be compassionate and kind,

Yet are we just doing it

to fall in their line?

I look around and see

people broken, lost and scared,

In a world that just feeds us

such horror and despair.

There is a kid down the street,

who takes his own life,

He doesn’t realize how that cuts

through his family’s heart like a knife.

This world does not offer us

Hope, love and light,

we need something to look up for

to come out of this night.

To love and care for others

is more that a suggestion,

It takes more interest,

even just one question.

There is One who loves

even bigger than we can dream,

So much so that He chose

to carry the beam.

He set the example,

so we can love well,

but He can do it

even better still.

So next time you see

someone coming undone,

Remember to show them love

and who your love comes from.

In Christ,

Abby
