• Where are you going? Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala and Cambodia
  • What are you going to be doing? It depends on where I am placed. I could be working in cafes, working in orphanages, teaching English in schools, working in gardens to provide food, honestly what I could be doing is endless. All that I know for sure is that I will be sharing the love of God wherever I go and through EVERYTHING I do.
  • What is the World Race-Gap Year Program? “It’s Matthew 10 in action: “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” Aside from age and total length of time, Gap Year differs from traditional World Race Routes in one key area: investment. Gap Year participants invest deeper into their local communities while creating lasting relationships.”
  • How many people will you be traveling with? I will be traveling with a squad of 50 people, but within that squad we will have teams and that is who will spend everyday with and work with.
  • How long will you be gone? 9 months, September 8th to June 1st.
  • Training Camp, when/what is that? It is at the Adventures in Missions head-quarters in Gainesville GA. This is an intense version of what we could experience over the next nine months. This training camp is to help prepare us for what is ahead. This is also a time for us to meet our squads that I spoke about earlier, and we get out teams at training camp!
  • What does the $15,800 pay for? Place of living, travel, meals, as well as insurance.
  • You’re living out of a backpack? Yes, mine in particular is 65L!
  • What are your emotions? I have so many, and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous, I’m human, I’m only 19 and I’m going to be away from everything I’ve ever known for 9 months. HOWEVER, I am beyond excited and happy, and I know this is my calling, I’m so excited to see where God is going to take me and what He is going to do through me. I know that I am going to be transformed and that makes all the worrisome feelings go away.
  • Why go? I feel that this is going to direct me on the path that God wants me to go on. I am going to grow as a person, connect with tons of people, and grow my relationship with God. I believe that I am going to find things that I am very passionate about and that will help when I get back. I also like that this is going to take me away from all the “distractions” we have in today’s world, phones, laptops, tv, etc. yes, I will have my phone and laptop, no my phone will not work unless connected to Wi-Fi, and I need my laptop to keep you awesome people up to date on what amazing things I’ll be doing.
