“As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. ‘COME, FOLLOW ME,’ Jesus said, ‘AND I WILL SEND YOU OUT TO FISH FOR PEOPLE.’ At once they left their nets and followed him.”
-Matthew 4:18-20
This passage of scripture can have several different viewpoints, but the part that I love is when Jesus said, “Come, follow me”. Simon and Andrew were just ordinary men, who knew Jesus, and were called to follow Jesus. Once they were called, they immediately left their nets and followed Jesus. Not only were they just going to follow Jesus, but they were going to fish for people.
God has a plan for my life that He has not yet shown or told me about, but He sure had His hand in my application for the World Race. I was unsure if applying for the World Race was really what I should have done, but after I applied God had a funny way of telling me it was the right thing to do.
After I applied for the World Race, I felt a little unsure about if I really should go or not. I mean it is almost a full year of giving up work and leaving family and friends behind, but God had a way of reassuring me that the World Race was right. With that being said, the next two lessons I taught at church were about spiritual gifts. The lesson I prepared for Wednesday night was about spiritual gifts and the lesson that was in my small group book for Sunday was about spiritual gifts. Not only were the two lessons that I taught over that week enough to get my attention, but that same Sunday that I taught about spiritual gifts, my pastor also gave a sermon over spiritual gifts and using them the way God wants us to. I do believe God was trying to tell me something!!! I do believe that I am using some of the gifts that God gave me, but I think I can do more. I think God wants me to do more. This is one of the reasons that I know I am doing the right thing and going out into the world and sharing Christ with others.
With each passing day I get more and more excited about what is to come next year. And nervous!!! I know God has a plan, and I can’t wait. I hope that if you are reading this you will follow me throughout the next year of my life as I post new blogs. If you would like to follow my blog, all you have to do is click the link, Follow Me, under my picture and add your email or phone number. Every time I post something new you will receive a message.
