I cannot believe there are only 10 weeks of this 11-month journey left. I am beginning to prepare for what life will look like when I get home and I am also looking back over the last 11 months and all God has taught me. So for the next several weeks I will be posting once a week with some things God has taught me in each month of this journey.

Open skies, lush green jungle and bright vibrant colors as far as the eye can see. This is Thailand- Land of Smiles. I love the lights from the Sunday night market and the soft sound of musicians playing in the street. I love the sound of laughter as little girls watch glowing lanterns soar into the sky. I love the spice in the food that brings the taste of Asia to a whole new level.

To me, Thailand was a breath of fresh air, a soft breeze on a humid day. A glimpse into the ways life can be colorful and amazing. But behind the smiles of each child was a story. A story of almost and could have been. A story that said they were almost sold. I could not imagine any of those beautiful little faces in a brothel, but it could have happened. This realization was heavy and hard to carry.

In Thailand I got to help build something. I got to shovel dirt and move rocks. There was something so satisfying about being tired after a hard day’s work. I loved being able to see the beginning, the start of something, the literal foundation. I love feeling free to dance in the rain, to face fears, to pet tigers, to experience adventure and be kissed by elephants. I love seeing the beginning of new friendships and to hear the Lord remind me of forgotten promises.

Thailand was an incredible month and opportunity to see the fruit of the prevention of trafficking. I learned what it is like to start something you might never see completed; I learned that friendship could be found in unexpected places. I learned that life is exciting and adventurous when you open yourself up to it. I very easily fell in love with Thailand and I will never forget my time there.

If you are following the news, you can see that Thailand is going through some major changes politically. Please be praying for this country and for the ministries we worked with there, that they would be protected and have favor with the government.
