For a while now, knowing what comes after high school has been difficult. You complete  the first three years of school, knowing that having a good plan isn’t extremely necessary, but once senior year comes it becomes essential. I had no idea what I was supposed to do. I had spend countless hours in prayer, asking God to show me where he wanted me. Though I knew that missions was my calling wasn’t, it was where I was supposed to do missions that I didn’t know. Months went by until God finally showed me.

God lead me to the World Race, Gap Year program. I knew of the program, thought it was awesome, but never thought I would be taking part in it. I am used to being comfortable. Living in a comfortable bed, being around groups of friends and family I have known for a long time, and going on missions trips to places I’ve been to before with people I’ve traveled with before. Deep down I felt God tugging at my heart and telling me it is alright to be uncomfortable. I needed to step out of my comfort zone, and that is exactly what the World Race is.

9 months of missions. Sharing the gospel, grace and love of Jesus, with people  who have never experienced these things before. Orphans, widows, children, adults, etc., all people who are dying to know Jesus, but just don’t know it yet. Serving alongside a group of othera whom I have yet to meet, in not one but five countries I have never been to. Now while out of my comfort zone, at the same time, I’ve never been more excited about something in my life. How amazing is the opportunity God has presented to me!

While the opportunity is great, there is work to be put in to make it happen. $15,000 will need to be fundraised in order to cover the expenses of this trip. This will provide housing, food, transportaion, and much more while I am on the Race. If you would like to help support, there are many ways this can be done. Donations are greatly appreciated! Just click on the donation bar at the top of my blog and follow the steps it will take you through, or you can write a check made out to Adventures in Missions and Alyssa Mayfield written in the memo. I will also be selling shirts and a few other things throughout the year as well as hosting a few fundraisers, if you’d like to purchase something I am selling or want more information on upcoming fundraisers, shoot me a message through facebook or email me at alyssa12099@gmail.com. Lastly and probably the most important way you can support me, is through prayer and encouragement.

I am so excited for you to take part in this alongside me, and I am so thankful for each one of my supporters. I COULDN’T DO IT ALONE! If you have any questions about my trip fundraising or would just like to chat about the World Race in general. Please contact me using the email given above.

The next 2 years will be full of crazy stories, adventures, and so many God is good moments and I can’t wait to share!!! Please stay tuned to my blog so you can get all the details, and share with some friends. I am so stoked to see what God does!!!

with so much love,

Alyssa
