Yes, I realize it’s been almost three months since I said I was going to post about team changes. I had a blog post written up, but I never posted it since I didn’t feel like it was right. Hopefully this blog ends up being posted ;).

Well we’re about to go into another round of team changes since August will be “Manistry” (or “Womanistry” for us women). Manistry month is a month on the race where everyone is on a team filled with the same gender. For men, there’s only one team and then the rest of the squad of women are broken up into different teams.

Team changes is always a time for reflection on your current team: what your team’s been like, what you would have liked to do different, what you want to see on your new team.

When I first got assigned with Tenacious, I was a little bit scared of what this season was going to look like. Most of the team was built up from the previous F.I.E.R.C.E. girls and they were known for being a little more extroverted. I was scared that my voice was going to be drowned out.  Also, I didn’t want to be on an all girls team. However, God talked to me the night of team changes and assured me that I was in the right place and that He had some things for me to learn.

Now, I see these girls as my sisters. We have our issues, sure, but what family doesn’t? I’m excited to see how these girls continue to grow throughout the race. I feel like I’ve learned what I’ve needed to learn from this season.

Last time team changes occurred, I was scared of what was going to happen. This time, I’m kind of looking forward to it. Not to get away from my team. Far from it. But I’m looking forward to the time of growth that being on a new team next month will bring. I’m excited to see how new teams affect my current teammates as well.
