Hello!

I’m Ali. I live in San Diego with the love of my life, my pup Theo 🙂

I’m currently a preschool and children’s ministry teacher at La Jolla Community Church and I absolutely love my job! Children really do remind us about what matters in life. Their joy, goofiness, and zest for life is infectious! Every day, I have the privilege of helping to shape the people my students will become and empowering them to become life-long learners (as well as being privy to the hilarious, adorable things they say!). I actually majored in Cognitive Science with a specialization in neuroscience at UCSD and initially planned to pursue research, but God helped me realize that teaching and ministry engage both my mind and my heart in a way that is meaningful to me.  I’ll always love learning about the mind and the brain, but teaching and sharing God’s love is my true calling.

This last fall, I began a Master’s of Divinity degree at Bethel Seminary.  I’m not entirely sure where God is leading me vocationally, but I’m excited to see where He takes me.  As of now, I’m most drawn to becoming a missionary, a chaplain in a hospital setting, or a pastor. I’m hoping the World Race will help to clarify my vocational direction!

As far as hobbies go, I love to spend time with God, read, be in nature, hike, bike, run, travel, be creative, sing, dance, play with my dog and my chickens (yes, I said chickens…), and spend quality time with family and friends.  And to say I enjoy word-play would be a punderstatement.  *Mic drop*

Anyway, I’m thrilled to be participating in the World Race!

Hope to learn more about all of you as well!

Ali
