Hello from launch in Atlanta, GA!
We are here training for specific roles, obtaining so much information, attending seminars, and hanging out. We are leaving Tuesday morning headed out to Chile! Before I leave out of the states, I wanted to share a great story- and start a new series:
A $150 Difference
$150 in the USA can buy you many small things, it can buy you some big things, and it can buy some important things- but most of us would blink an eye at $150 and let it go in a heartbeat.
A great friend of mine told me a story the other day about his first mission trip.
It went a little like this:
“On my very first mission trip, I was headed to Honduras. I was getting ready to go when my aunt gave me $100. She said to me, ‘You don’t know yet what this is for.. But you will.’ So, I wondered if she meant for me to spend it on souvenirs, food, or something else. While we were down there, we finished our job of building in about 3 days. We looked around for something else to do and decided that we should repair the house which belonged to the pastor of the local church. When we arrived at the lumber yard and gathered all of the needed supplies, our total cost at check-out was equivalent to $100. I knew that was what the Lord wanted me to use the money for.”
After telling this story he presented me with a $150 USD equivalent currency in cash in each country that I am traveling to. He said to me, “You do not know now what this money is to be used for- except I can tell you now that it is not souvenirs- but the Lord will guide you in each place to spend the money as He wishes it to be spent. It may mean giving it away a little at a time, as a whole, or spending it on needs for your local ministry.”
So- with this, I have decided to share with you what each $150 USD equivalent will be used for. I will update in the “A $150 Difference” category of my blog each month and I cannot wait to see what is in store.
In each of these countries, $150 looks different. In some, it is an enormous amount and in others, it will not be seen as a monumental amount, but God will use each dollar to further His kingdom in the way He best sees fit. The possible eternal reward of each dollar is unknown and can be worth far more than any earthly currency.
I am so thankful for the opportunity to steward the funds of such a great family friend, and I cannot wait to see the difference this will make in the lives of those I will encounter.
Xoxo
